Tommy Yong Chu Zheng, Sales and Marketing Director and Co-Founder of iSiS Logistics, John Lim, Outdoor National Sales of Yamato Ta-Q-Bin, and Ng Shern Yau, International Network Director of Logistics Worldwide Express (LWE) were invited to share their insights on logistics. Around 75 participants joined the class.

During the 7 years in Melbourne, Yong experienced first hand the impact of e-commerce on traditional retail business in Australia. Inspired by the performance of e-commerce players in advanced countries, and then identified high adaptation of consumers buying online, he and Joe started IStore ISend to provide Stock Management, Order Processing and Last Mile Fulfillment via their warehouse management system.

He is responsible for overseeing the company’s sales and marketing aspect and acquisition of key clients.

He suggested online sellers to use the warehouse management system because the system is safe for the products to be stored, and the processing is quick. In addition, it provides 24/7 access to inventory stock.

Lim introduced Yamato Group as a multi national public listed company in Japan specialized in Ta-Q-Bin (courier services), air and sea, removal, distribution and transporting with its overseas offices well set up in the United States, Canada, Europe region, Asia region and Southeast Asia region.

Yamato has 81 offices worldwide in 21 countries and 62 cities .
The company established in Japan in 1919, and had been incorporated on 9 November 1988 in Malaysia. Ta-Q-Bin in Malaysia was officially launched in September 2011, and have growth together with major key customers in Malaysia.

Services provided by Ta-Q-Bin in Malaysia include documents delivery, normal parcels delivery, frozen and chilled express (cool send) delivery, cash on delivery service, door-to-door service, credit card service, and system innovative support.

The company not only operates 365 days a year, but also 24 hours a day. In order to provide customers an express service, the company divides the 24 hours into 4 time zones. Thus, customers can receive their products next day.

LWE provides cross border logistics solutions for the e-commerce industry. They have established networks in major cities within Asia Pacific. LWE has a wide range of fulfilment solutions that covers a spectrum of service options and destinations.

Ng asserted that they can customise to suit customers’ business needs.
To make shipping easy, LWE also provides an integrated web shipping solution. This solution automatically produces the last mile carrier labels depending on the pre-agreed service matrix, weight, destination and service level that customers have pre-set. This ensures that the right services labels can be printed with ease.

Ng argued that Malaysia is a strategic location for logistics because of its low cost of doing business, language and cultural diversities, well-connected airports, seaports, and road networks, and best budget airline in the world.
