National mail carrier Pos Malaysia has launched its first e-Commerce Hub at the Pos Malaysia headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, offering greater access to Pos Malaysia’s local and international logistics capabilities, infrastructure, and delivery networks to e-commerce merchants, according to The Star Online.

Serving as one of the group’s transformation strategies, the hub will provide services such as kiosks offering various Pos Laju products and services, parcel lockers, prepaid dropbox and an Application Programming Interface (API), which would itself include functions such as the option for a track and trace update of delivery, a means of postcode look-up, and a service locator.

“Today’s launch is just the beginning of our venture into the e-commerce business. There will be more services available in the future with more gadgets and equipment placed in each hub,” said Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh, CEO of Pos Malaysia.

Mohd Shukrie also noted that the revenue of Pos Laju’s courier services had been increasing between 15% to 20% every year, being mostly used for e-commerce purposes.

Down the line, Pos Malaysia will also launch a self-service mobile app called e-Pos Laju in the near future, while another 20 e-Commerce Hubs will be opened nationwide by the end of December 2017.
